The whole game
How it works
Six steps, about ninety seconds of setup, and then everyone is arguing about whose chin that is. Scroll to watch a game play out.
Step 1 of 6
One person starts the game
Open face-shuffle.com on whatever's plugged into the television and hit Start a game. You get a six-character code and a QR code, and that's the whole setup — no accounts, nothing to install, no lobby to configure.
Step 2 of 6
Everyone else joins from their phone
Scan the code off the screen or type it in, pick the name you want on the scoreboard, and you're in. The big screen fills up as people arrive, so you can see who's still fumbling with their camera.
Step 3 of 6
Everybody adds a face
Pick a photo, pinch to centre the face in the circle, and say whose it is. A recent photo of yourself against a plain background blends the cleanest — the childhood pictures and the celebrities are what the second game is for. The crop happens on your own phone, so the original never leaves it. The host can add people who aren't in the room — a flatmate, a colleague, somebody's dog.
Step 4 of 6
The faces get blended in pairs
Pairs are chosen so that everybody turns up about as often, or the host pins the combinations they actually want to see. Each pair is morphed into a single face, and the host slides it between the two until it's ambiguous enough to be worth guessing.
Step 5 of 6
Everyone guesses who's in there
One blend at a time goes up on the big screen. On your phone you tap two names and lock it in. A point per correct person, so half-right still scores and one bad round doesn't put you out of it.
Step 6 of 6
Someone wins, and the photos go
The host reveals the answer, the scores go up, and the next blend loads — or holds every answer back so the whole scoreboard lands in one go at the end. Either way, when the game ends every photo is deleted: they only ever lived in memory, and were never written to a disk in the first place.
That's the whole thing.
Best with four or more people and a screen everyone can see. Put this page on the television and hit the button.
